i just got my hands on a copy of my book of bible stories ... (1978).
at first i was excited when a friend pulled it out of his bag, said he'd gotten it as a kid.
then i started flipping through, looking at the pictures, feeling the memories spin in my brain.

i was always fascinated with dinosaurs as a kid.
i remembering asking my mother how come the bible doesn't mention the dinosaurs ... i mean, if he created everything, he must've created the dinosaurs.

Weird, considering JWs don't believe in "grace".
Yeah Scully ... or consider themselves a 'church'.
I wonder if anyone told told this delightful reporter that the GOD of the JW's will one day rain sudden destruction on all those other "churches" of good ol' Payson, with its men women and children kneeling and praying inside.
How's that for adding to the "beauty and grace" of their community.

i was wondering how many here take special precautions, like deleting internet files and clearing your internet history, so that no one else may use your computer and find out that you're visiting apostate forums and reading apostate literature.. maybe some won't even put a jwd icon on their desktop, just incase a jw family member could see it.. .

... what a great read on a cold morning. and don't worry about ranting ... because no matter what we're feeling at any given moment, they are scores of other folks feelin' it too.
keep posting those rants ... because we never know who is peeking in, curious, disgruntled and unsure of who to trust and who to pray to. at least they'll know they found the right place to ask questions and get answers and even rant about things that need ranting about.
i also want people out ... my mom, my aunt. does anyone want their loved one in slavery?

Lurk ... I read the greatest article in the thread 'Can the org survive the internet', or something like that. What was interesting was when Knorr was president, it seemed the org became a lot more business savvy ....
I wouldn't be surprised if it has always been about the buck since the days of Bro. Knorr, if not before. Because think about it, even Rutherford had the mansion built because Abraham, Isaac & Jacob were due back. But of course, he lived there in meantime. With a depression going on. When the average publisher couldn't afford shoes ... and who needed shoes more than them?
All the these shady and semi-shady business dealings, then and now, show clearly that the org, contrary to the rank and file, is thinking about getting ahead in THIS system.
As opposed to our parents and families and loved ones who do without in the interest of the ministry.
That email I sent them was loaded with the most interesting old tracts I could find. That was yesterday morning and I still haven't heard anything. But they're not the most computer savvy ... I sometimes have to go over to locate their "inbox".
My mom and aunt have been dubs all my life ... my grandmother also ,
but she passed a few years ago. My mom is a retired, a full-time super-pioneer, listens to virtually just kingdom melodies in the car and house (and when they're not on ... she hums them) ... and she basically eats, drinks & breathes the Truth. She sacrificed her entire life for me, never wanting to put me through the stepfather hell that she went through, so she stayed single and threw herself down the maw of the Truth.
My aunt is just as devout, if not more. (if thats even possible.) They're estranged from most of the family .... of 12 sisters and brothers. One aunt is best known for not having both oars in the water, but she's harmless. Another younger sister was baptized way back when, got df'd, now they barely speak. She calls every few years, drunk, just to cuss my mom over the phone.
Pulling these two out would probably do more damage then doing nothing. But then again, their always the blood issue ... what if that comes into play? They're no spring chickens. Hell, I'm no spring chicken.
I just can't do nothing. I can't. I will keep quietly goading them with tid-bits of info ... and hope.

i've been thinking about it in my sleep ... can sleep.
it's been less than a month since i stumbled onto this site while researching the roots of jwism for a character i'm writing on.
since then, i haven't written anything, haven't done much recreationally .... i've just been digging deeper through this site and simultaneously .... digging through my memories of growing up dub.
A writer. Yes. Guilty as charged. That's why I thought the wilderness retreat idea was so cool ....
still plan to do it one day. good luck on your book!
